Ani 55 Portfolio

Here is my portfolio for the Ani 55 class. It is divided into sections featuring 10 of the best-- 10-30 second warm ups, 1-2 minute gestures, 4-5 minute poses, and 10-20 minute poses. I still have some editing to do on it, particularly with adjusting tones, getting rid of a few of the weaker figures, and consistent text placement.

Full-Size Figure

Last week, we did an interesting experiment where we drew on 5-6 ft sheets of paper to create a life-size model. It was quite the undertaking and it easily led to you running into all sorts of issues, especially concerning proportion and stiffness of the gesture. It was really cool though, and I'm glad I had that experience.

Apr 20 Week- Best 20

This week we studied hands. We still started the classes with full body gestures, though this time we went straight into 1 minute poses.

Here are 5 minute studies of both pull body poses and hand construction. The hands in the bottom right-hand corner are from a 20 minute study that destroyed my brain.

Apr 15 Week- 10 Best Figures

This past week we've continued to try to emulate our favorite artists. I tried to channel Glen Keane, though I relied too heavily on outlines.

Glen Keane Inspired David Figures

For our latest homework, we had to emulate an artist that we love while drawing 3 different statues of David. I chose Glen Keane and while he's nearly impossible to imitate, I'm quite happy with these. (Though the Donatello one and I had some issues...)

Apr 8 Week- 10 Best Figures

Our teacher Owen was sick with the flu last class, so his rad TA Dustin led a shorter class for us. I had a "hit or miss" kind of day in terms of drawings.

I was quite pleased with my longer poses. I'm finding that I'm benefiting from the longer poses more often than the shorter ones-- which is a little odd for me.
